Uchi Mata is a unique tournament-based Judo fighting game in which you play as a judoka in the ultimate tournament.

The game is played from a non-scrolling side view. You control your fighter and attempt to get within striking distance of your opponent, however you don't attack directly with your attack button. Instead, your attack command puts you in a fighting stance that allows you to input a series of directional moves. That, combined with the correct feet placement of both fighters (which can be seen in a helpful window) allows you to unleash specific throws and offensive maneuvers that form the basis of the combat in the game. A stamina and health bar also keep your attacks in check, as you may need to rest and build up your strength in order to perform effective attacks.

Description from the packaging:

Uchi Mata is an exciting, challenging, addictive, and remarkably realistic Judo-based martial arts simulation. It didn't get that way by accident. Brian Jacks, a 7th Dan black belt, served as technical consultant during Uchi Mata's development. Jacks, who has won the British Championship 11 times, the Open Championship 5 times, the European Championship 4 times, and an Olympic Medal, is one of the foremost exponents of Judo in the world.

Brian Jack's Judo expertise combines with advanced programming techniques to produce one of the most realistic martial arts simulations available for the computer.
Based on Judo, Uchi Mata is a remarkably accurate and detailed martial arts simulation. Become practiced at all of the major throws of Judo- from O Soto Gari to Tomoe Nage, from Uchi Mata to De Ashi Barai. Compete against another player or against the computer. You'll even learn a few illegal moves (highly frowned upon by the referee in competition mode).

Designed in conjunction with champion Judo expert Brian Jacks, a 7th Dan black belt, an 11-time winner of the British Championship, a 5-time winner of the Open Championship, a 4-time winner of the European Championship, and an Olympic medalist, Uchi Mata's authenticity is unparalleled among martial arts simulations.
